Former South African captain AB de Villiers is coming to Lahore for Pakistan leg of Pakistan Super League (PSL). AB confirmed in a video message that he will come to Lahore to resume international cricket in Pakistan.
Lahore qalandars picked Mr 360 in their platinum pick. Qalandars being last on PSL table enjoyed first pick (platinum) of the draft and they straight away went for batting sensation AB de Villiers.
Having three poor seasons of PSL, Qalandars this time to look for something different. They have revamped their side for the fourth edition of PSL. Mohammad Hafeez has also joined Qalandar force.
AB is widely known for his 360-degree shots. His explosive batting has always been a source of delight for fans. He has a massive fan following all over the globe. Similarly, he is loved by every single Pakistani fan.
In 78 T20I matches, de Villiers has scored 1672 runs at an average of 26.12. he also holds the record of fastest 100 from just 31 balls in ODI.
The news of his coming to Lahore took Pakistanis by a storm and people here can’t wait to see his magic at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in March. He will play two back to back matches in Lahore in front of Qalandars’ home crowd.
Qalandars will play Islamabad United on 9th March and Multan Sultans on 10th march at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
AB said, “I feel I have a role to play in helping international cricket return to Pakistan”.
It was indeed a very tough task for Lahore Qalandars’ officials to convince their star player to come to Pakistan as AB refused to come in first place. But the management kept on pushing him and it turned into Qalandars’ favour.
This is going to be AB’s debut PSL, he has played league (T20) cricket in his homeland South Africa, India, West Indies and a few other countries. He is widely regarded as the finest batsman of this current era and also high in demand in foreign leagues.
AB’s addition to the side can be a fortune changer for Qalandars. In the form of AB, Qalandars are looking to turn the table for themselves as they had worst last three seasons. They experimented with a lot of local and foreign players but nothing worked for them so far.
Qalandars brought in Brendon McCullum in the second edition of PSL, he remained with them in the third edition as well but parted ways for the fourth edition. For the three consecutive years, Qalandars are at the bottom of the table.
PSL is set to begin from February 14th in Dubai. The first match is between table topper champion side Islamabad United and bottom tabled Lahore Qalandars.
