The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has recently unveiled the star-studded commentary panel for the fourth season of the HBL Pakistan Super League. The panel includes the likes of former cricketing superstars including former Proteas captains, Graeme Smith and Kepler Wessels, former Australian superstar Matthew Hayden, and former Pakistani captain Ramiz Raja.
According to the press release made by the board, the commentary panel will also include the familiar voices of Danny Morrison, Bazid Khan, Michael Slater and Alan Wilkins, who have entertained the viewers with their commentary in the past.
Graeme Smith, who has made a brilliant start to his commentary career ever since retiring from international cricket, will be making his PSL debut as a commentator this edition.
“Pakistan cricket always offers a lot of excitement and I am sure HBL PSL will be no different,” as Smith revealed his excitement of being a part of the HBL PSL.
“It’s a quality tournament and I have followed it over the past three years. The opportunity to commentate at this year’s HBL PSL is an exciting one and I look forward to watching talented cricketers from Pakistan playing alongside some leading international stars.”
However, the 38-year-old will only be available for the first two weeks of the tournament due to personal commitments.
Kepler Wessels will also be a new addition to the commentary team for the PSL, as the former batsman has become a renowned name in the cricketing world as a commentator. He will be available for the full season to entertain the PSL audience.
On the other hand, Matthew Hayden has also made a big name for himself in the commentating arena after having put fear in the bowlers during his batting era. Hayden will be a part of the commentary box only for the first week of the tournament.
Former Pakistan captain, Ramiz Raja, has been a main-stay in the Pakistani commentating circuit for a long-time now, and has been an avid supporter of the PSL since day 1. The former opening batsman will be exciting the viewers with his voice for yet another season.
“HBL PSL brings with it an air of festivity, joy and celebration,” Ramiz was quoted as saying.
“This year will be no different and I can’t wait to experience what the tournament has to offer this year with eight matches being held in Pakistan,” Raja concluded.
Along with the commentators panel, the tournament’s broadcast will also include an experts panel, that will provide their valuable analysis before and after every game. The experts panel will include the Australian duo of fast bowler Shaun Tait and left-arm chinaman Brad Hogg. They will be partnered by former Pakistani captain, Aamer Sohail.
The PSL 2019 will also comprise of new presenters, with the charming Zainab Abbas being partnered by Fakhar-e-Alam, while Erin Holland from Australia will be the new name in the team.
The PSL 2019 edition will also see a rise in the technology being used. The season will feature state-of-the-art coverage including stump cameras, umpire camera, Hawk-Eye, Spidercam and the analytical assistance from CricViz.
