Players Draft for the Pakistan Super League 2019 (PSL 2019), also known as HBL PSL 2019 i.e. 4th edition is in progress at Islamabad.

This time around, 663 foreign players including local cricketers of Pakistan Domestic circuit are available in the draft.

The team names are: Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Quetta Gladiators, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings and the 6th team ‘to-be-announced officially’ as ownership rights of one of PSL 2018 included team Multan Sultans were terminated. The franchize actually failed to pay its annual fee worth the US $5.2 million and that’s the reason why Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) terminated them a couple of weeks ago. PCB will pick the players on behalf of the 6th team as the owners are still to be finalized and announced.

A total number of 06 franchises will pick their players in the available categories. The teams have already decided about the retained player as retentions were open till 13th November 2018.

Islamabad United who won Pakistan Super League 2018 (PSL 3) edition can pick 06 more players from today’s draft to make it a squad of 16 players. Unlike United, other teams have retained fewer players and they can pick more players than them. Like Peshawar Zalmi, Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings and ‘6th Team’ has retained a  number of 08 players each and they will have a luxury of picking 8 more players in today’s drafts.

The other team left, Quetta Gladiators will have an option to pick 07 more to add to their 09 retained players. Other than this, all the teams will be able to pick 04 more players in an optional round called Supplement Picks.

As far as picks are concerned, Lahore Qalandars will have the 1st pick in each round because they were at bottom of PSL 2018 Point Table in PSL 3 season. The ‘6th Team’ will be in between and then come the teams in order are Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, and Peshawar Zalmi. Whereas, the defending champions ‘Islamabad United’ will be able to pick at last.
